Moira Wood holds a Bachelors Degree in English and Journalism from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Ms. Wood worked at NJ 211 Addictions Hotline, where she provided information and referrals for substance abuse treatment in NJ. She also worked as a counselor at the PHP/IOP/OP level of care at Mount Olive Counseling and Clinic, a counselor at a halfway house level of care at Mrs. Wilson’s, long term residential treatment at Straight and Narrow, where she was a counselor in the Mommy and Me program, and a NJ Drug Court counselor, and a primary counselor at short term residential treatment at Sunrise House.
Ms. Wood, a client centered counselor, utilizes many methods of counseling, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. Ms. Wood is also an advocate for holistic methods of maintaining sobriety such as meditation, yoga, Tai Chi, Qigong and various methods of spirituality.
Ms. Wood believes that substance use and the lifestyle that is lived in active addiction is done in isolation, so recovery should occur as part of a community.
